Add Some Style With Deck Lights

Updated: Apr 20, 2020

One of the most important things to remember when building a deck is keeping it visible through the night with deck lighting. There are many different styles that can accent and keep your outdoor space lit up. Check out some of these options and find the perfect lights for your application.

Recessed Lights

These lights sit flush with the surface of the deck boards. They illuminate upwards and outwards to spread light evenly across the deck floor. There are many options with these lights, which include finish type, material, and light color, that allow them to blend in or stand out. They are built to withstand foot traffic, so you never have to worry about wear or damage.

Post Cap Lights

Post cap lights are exactly what they sound like. They sit on top of railing posts. These are able to create a wide area of light surrounding the outside of your deck. Many of these lights are even solar powered which allows for quick and easy installation.

Stair Lights

Stair lights illuminate your staircase and provide safety at night. These lights are small and come in plenty of different options. They are mounted on the vertical portion of the stair, lighting up each stair tread. These lights usually point down to cover the ground without creating too much light.

Accent Lighting

These lights are mounted on the sides of a post or railing and provide light downward. These lights come in many different shapes and sizes to appeal to your style. They help provide a little more light to areas that may need it, like the edge of your deck.

Keeping your deck lit is an important part of any deck building project. While they may be small accents, they can go a long way in terms of design. There are so many accessories to go with a new or existing deck, and we offer many different choices here at Douglas Lumber. Call or click HERE to find out more.
